Overview
A symphonic reflection on the heroism and the tragedies wrought by a century of conflict, commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Armistice and the 80th Anniversary of Kristallnacht.
After a stunning debut with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra in 2016, cellist Cicely Parnas returns to present the North Carolina premiere of Sharon Farber's Bestemming, the story of Dutch Holocaust hero Curt Lowens, narrated by Jay Morong and performed by the UNC Charlotte Orchestra under the direction of Jonathan Andrew Govias. The program also includes frour works by World War One composers, and the heartbreaking Elegy for Anne Frank by American composer Lukas Foss, with piano soloist Dawn Carpenter.
