Overview

We are at crisis levels with both the COVID-19 pandemic and our housing crisis exacerbating homelessness across Mecklenburg County.

As a community, we must find a solution immediately. The Charlotte music community will come together on January 15, not only to raise money for Roof Above, Charlotte's frontline nonprofit initiative serving our community in the battle against homelessness, but also to raise awareness to this issue. We are in the coldest months of the year and thousands of our neighbors have nowhere to go. We can do better.

This GoFundMe has been set at $100,000 to help equip Roof Above as they continue the fight to meet our community's growing needs for affordable housing solutions. Last year Roof Above served 4,371 different people through their programs and the number increases drastically when their services include their Day Services Center care as well as their soup kitchen outreach. Roof Above's programs also helped move 403 people out of homelessness last year and into affordable housing. Their programs and methods work and we need to be supporting them as much as possible right now.

Please, if you are in a position to give, give generously. If you are not in a position to give, please share the page. I've often heard the phrase many hands make light work and now we need as many hands as we can get.

Currently, we have nearly 40 artists signed up to deliver covers from artists who passed away in 2020 including performances from Adam Lazzara (Taking Back Sunday), Chris Shinn (Līve), Graham Sharp (Steep Canyon Rangers), Benji Hughes, Sierra Ferrell, and Billy Joe Shaver's longtime guitarist Jeremy Lynn Woodall. Artists will be covering Van Halen, John Prine, Rush, Billy Joe Shaver, Little Richard, Fountains Of Wayne and more and the show will stream from Tribute To Benefit's Facebook page www.facebook.com/TributeToBenefit on Friday, January 15, at 8 p.m. EST.
