Overview

"Blues for Mama,” a dramatic production set in Baltimore City during the 80's, features the songs of Nina Simone, whose phenomenal career earned her the title of “High Priestess of Soul.” The narrative revolves around the daughters and their intricate lives as they grapple with Coot's mental problems. Her recent episodes include, public nudity, avoiding confrontation, loss of appetite, lack of hygiene, and finally promiscuity, which Mama can't abide. The sisters feel the urgency to arrest the problem, because Mama’s age warrants that a change is necessary for the good of the family. "Blues for Mama" immerses your senses in the personal battles of the Blackman family as they help Mama navigate overwhelming family issues.
