The final production of the Greater Shelby Community Theater's 2014-2015 season is the tale of one young boy’s adventure on the high seas-- in the local premiere production of "Ken Ludwig's Treasure Island", to be directed by Jim Chandler, a local actor and director at the Little Theater of Gastonia. Adapted by Ken Ludwig from the classic Robert Louis Stevenson novel, "Treasure Island" will feature local actors playing multiple roles in this tale of pirates, mayhem, and buried treasure...

"Treasure Island" is told from the point of view of young Jim Hawkins, the son of an innkeeper in 18th century England, who matches wits with a pirate crew determined to obtain a buried treasure. Taking a highly sought-after map in hand, Hawkins sets off on a terrifying adventure in search of the treasure. With heart-pounding sword fights, edge-of-your-seat rescues, and cutthroat mutiny on the high seas, "Treasure Island" is an adventure for the whole family, but the youngest members of the family may be frightened by scenes of pirate mayhem and the sounds of pistol and musket shots.
