La traviata has an age-old theme that's still relevant. (Both Pretty Woman and Moulin Rouge! adapted the romance between a "working girl" and the wealthy suitor who offers her a better life. Hollywood gave it a happy ending, but Verdi gave us one of the most glorious death scenes in all of opera.
