Overview

Please join us as part of Charlotte’s Celebration of the 25th anniversary of The American’s with Disabilities Act, on July 26th, 2015.

The American’s with Disabilities Act, as a major Civil Rights law, has had a profound impact on our entire society.  It strives to level the field for all by providing equal opportunity and access to people with disabilities.  It covers our laws, our actions, as well as how we build the infrastructure of our society.

Whether or not one has a disability now, we know that most of us want to live long enough to have a disability.  Many of the things that make our lives a little easier (think automatic doors and curb cuts) and that we take for granted, came from the ADA.

This unique event features the premiere of a film that explores how people with disabilities have been portrayed in a wide range of movies.  The “talk-back” panel discussion following the film will engage the audience and invites their participation.  And of course, there is a celebration party with heavy hors d’oeuvres & a cash bar!

The event is co-sponsored by The City of Charlotte-Community Relations Committee and Blumenthal Performing Arts.  The proceeds from the event will directly support the services provided by Disability, Rights & Resources.  Your support enables us to continue Fighting for Justice * Advancing Independence.
