An Afternoon with Mark Winchester

Overview

Mark W. Winchester, a songwriter and musician who wrote the Randy Travis Top 20 hit, "Would I," and last year's International Bluegrass Music Association's Song of the Year, "Moon Over Memphis," discovered Flannery O'Connor's Prayer Journal last year. He had begun his own introspective journey in his fiftieth year by starting a project to write a song a day for fifty days. With O'Connor's Prayer Journal as his muse, Winchester has created a CD of "prayer-songs" as a tribute to O'Connor. For this event, Winchester will perform his prayer-songs, as well as discuss his motivations, inspirations, and the writing process during the project.
